From Chaos to Calm: My Journey to Blissful Abode
I’ve always been an organised person. I love pretty things, the way they look, and how simple touches can transform a space. For years, I never thought of myself as creative because I couldn’t draw, but I’ve since realised creativity shows up in many ways, and for me, it has always been in how I create a home.
No matter where I lived, I could always make a home for myself and my children. Even during my corporate career, people would ask me to help them move, set up new rooms, or bring order to their spaces. I enjoyed it every time, but it never occurred to me back then that I could turn it into a career.
Then life changed. Things got incredibly tough, and we had to sell the beautiful home that Malcolm and I had worked so hard to build together. We moved out to Southbridge, into the countryside. In theory, it sounded like a fresh start, but in reality, I hated it. I was far from everything I knew and loved, and it felt like I had gone back to being a single mum again... isolated, overwhelmed, and carrying it all alone. I slipped into a dark place where I felt like a failure, a burden, and completely useless.
It took time, medication, and grounding myself to slowly climb out of that black hole. And I didn’t do it alone. Without Malcolm’s kind nature, his ability to ground me, and the gentle reminder that it was okay to depend on someone else, I don’t know where I’d be. Along with the support of my beautiful friends, I began to find my feet again. Piece by piece, I started creating a new home.
That process reminded me of something I’d always known deep down: when you change your environment, you change how you feel. Organising and creating order wasn’t just something I was good at, it was what I was meant to do... That’s when Blissful Abode was born.
Blissful Abode isn’t about picture-perfect pantries or expensive baskets (though I’ll admit I love pretty touches). It’s about making homes that work for real people. Homes that are easy to keep on top of, even in the middle of busy schedules, family chaos, or neurodiverse needs. It’s about creating spaces that give you clarity, balance, and a sense of calm in the middle of everyday life.
When I work with clients, I help clear away what no longer serves them, create zones that make sense for how they actually live, and give everything a proper home. I set up systems that aren’t just for one person to maintain, but simple enough for the whole family to follow. That way, the responsibility doesn’t sit on just one set of shoulders.
I know first-hand what it feels like to be weighed down by clutter, and I also know the relief of walking into a space that feels light, calm, and easy to manage. That’s what I want to give every person who invites me into their home.
So if you’re standing in your home right now thinking, “I don’t even know where to begin,” know this... you don’t have to do it alone! I’ve been there too. Together, we can clear the clutter, calm the chaos, and create a home that feels like your fresh start.
